N2086J is the aircraft involved in the incident.

Emergency Updates: JetBlue B61058 Oranjestad-New York…

UPDATE #1 @ 1937 UK time – The aircraft has had quite an eventful departure from Oranjestad.
UPDATE #2 @ 1940 UK time – N2086J is the aircraft involved in the emergency.
As per Planespotters.net, N2086J is a 5.4 year old Airbus A321neo that was delivered to the airline back in October 2020.
Of the A321neo variant, JetBlue has 37 of them in their fleet.
Within the 37, 34 are in active service and three are parked, with an average fleet age of 4.1 years.
As well as the A321neo fleet, JetBlue has the following other aircraft in their mainline fleet:
- 59 Airbus A220s.
- 129 Airbus A320s.
- 63 Airbus A321ceos.
In total, the airline has 288 aircraft in their fleet, of which 268 are in active service, and 20 are parked, with an average fleet age of 12.2 years.

UPDATE #3 @ 1944 UK time – With the aircraft heading north now, it is unclear where the diversion point will be.
The track not too long after departure from Oranjestad is also interesting.
UPDATE #4 @ 1949 UK time – At this stage, the reason for the emergency is still unclear.

UPDATE #5 @ 1951 UK time – With the next available country being the Dominican Republic, this could be the likely place for an emergency landing or diversion.

EMERGENCY UPDATE #6 @ 1959 UK time – Aircraft is currently on estimated positioning due to the ADS-B coverage in the area.
Will continue to monitor the flight regardless.

UPDATE #7 @ 2009 UK time – ADS-B coverage re-established.
Aircraft has stopped squawking 7700, but seems to be heading in the direction of the U.S.
UPDATE #8 @ 2011 UK time – Now squawking 7700 again.

UPDATE #9 @ 2015 UK time – The crew could be limping the aircraft home to the U.S.
JetBlue has bases in Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, where they could divert to.
No diversion field confirmed yet though.

UPDATE #10 @ 2024 UK time – The aircraft, operating JetBlue flight B61058 Oranjestad-New York has made a deviation west.
Les Cayes Airport in Haiti or Kingston Manley in Jamaica could be some other options for diversion.
Diversion to Fort Lauderdale…

UPDATE #11 @ 2028 UK time – JetBlue flight status saying the aircraft is diverting to Fort Lauderdale.
UPDATE #12 @ 2033 UK time – AirLive is reporting that the crew heard a loud bang on departure.
UPDATE #13 @ 2048 UK time – As per @FlightEmergency on X, the reason for the emergency was due to an engine failure on takeoff.

UPDATE #14 @ 2058 UK time – The aircraft is making strong progress back to the U.S.
The aircraft will fly through Cuba, before heading to the mainland and attempting an emergency landing in Fort Lauderdale.

UPDATE #15 @ 2118 UK time – JetBlue flight B61058 Oranjestad-New York is flying through Cuban airspace at FL120.
Diversion to Fort Lauderdale is due to B6 having a base, and will be easier to fix the problem there.

UPDATE #16 @ 2138 UK time – Flightradar24 confirms FLL diversion.
The aircraft is approaching the U.S mainline, so will not be long until an emergency landing is conducted.

UPDATE #17 @ 2203 UK time – After nearly four hours in the air, the aircraft has started it’s descent into Fort Lauderdale.
UPDATE #18 @ 2209 UK time – B61058 is approaching the critical stages of the approach and emergency landing into Fort Lauderdale.

EMERGENCY UPDATE #19 @ 2218 UK time – The JetBlue aircraft is now on final approach into FLL, emergency landing imminent.

UPDATE #20 @ 2221 UK time – TOUCHDOWN!
JetBlue flight B61058 Oranjestad-New York has safely touched down into Fort Lauderdale following it’s emergency declaration.
