In the last few moments, an Atlas Air 767 operating a flight between Frankfurt Hahn and Seattle has declared an emergency over Greenland.
N640GT is the aircraft involved in the incident.

Updates: Atlas Air 5Y8713 – Frankfurt to Seattle…

UPDATE #1 @ 1822 UK time – Currently, the aircraft is squawking 7700 and is tracking towards Iceland for a diversion.
UPDATE #2 @ 1828 UK time – N640GT is the aircraft involved.
As per data from Planespotters.net, N640GT is a 34.4 year old Boeing 767-300 that started out life with EVA Air back in August 1991.
It was delivered to Atlas Air in August 2011 following an ownership under TACA International Airlines, Britannia Airways, Canadian Airlines, Air Canada, Air Madagascar, TAM Linhas Aereas, Luzair and SriLankan Airlines.
Of the 767-300 fleet, Atlas Air has 10 of them in their fleet.
Moreover, of the 10, 7 are in active service, with three parked, offering an average fleet age of 32.7 years.
As well as the 767-300, Atlas Air has the following other aircraft in their fleet:
- 65 Boeing 747 Aircraft.
- 13 Boeing 777 Aircraft.
In total, they have a fleet of 88 aircraft, of which 84 are in active service and four are parked, with an average fleet age of 20.8 years.

UPDATE #3 @ 1839 UK time – Atlas Air flight 5Y8713 Frankfurt-Seattle, which declared the emergency, is around halfway between Greenland and Iceland.
Keflavik looks to be the diversion field.
UPDATE #4 @ 1854 UK time – 5Y8713 is getting closer to Iceland – aircraft is still cruising at FL300, with descent expected imminently.

UPDATE #5 @ 1857 UK time – The Boeing 767 has now started it’s descent into Keflavik Airport, Iceland.
The cause of the emergency is still unclear at this present moment.

UPDATE #6 @ 1906 UK time – 5Y8713 is descending through FL200 and is getting closer to Keflavik.
Winds at the moment are favourable for a Runway 01 approach into the Icelandic airport.

UPDATE #7 @ 1915 UK time – The aircraft is passing through 9,000 feet, and looks set to turn onto an extremely long final onto Runway 01 at Keflavik. Emergency landing is imminent.

EMERGENCY UPDATE #8 @ 1920 UK time – Atlas Air flight 5Y8713 is now on final approach into Keflavik.

UPDATE #9 @ 1931 UK time – TOUCHDOWN!
Atlas Air flight 5Y8713, which declared an emergency over Greenland whilst enroute to Seattle from Frankfurt, has touched down safely into Keflavik.
At this time, the cause of the emergency is unclear. We will update you in due course when we get the reason.
