Discover Airlines Adds Edmonton and Belize: Frankfurt Network Grows in 2027
Discover Airlines is expanding its Frankfurt network with new routes to Edmonton and Belize City, while taking over Lufthansa's Seattle services from 2027.

Discover Airlines is set to add two new long-haul destinations to its Frankfurt network and absorb Lufthansa's Seattle operations, with the changes taking effect from late 2026 through 2027. According to Aviation24.be, the Lufthansa Group leisure carrier will serve Edmonton, Belize City and Seattle as part of a broader push to grow both its Frankfurt and Munich operations.

The announcements represent a significant step for the airline, which is steadily building a transatlantic footprint that distinguishes it from its parent group's full-service operations.
Frankfurt to Edmonton: A New Canadian Connection
Frankfurt to Edmonton (YEG) will launch on 1 June 2027, operating three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Aviation24.be reports that Discover says it will be the only airline offering nonstop flights between Germany and Edmonton.
Edmonton becomes the airline's third Canadian destination, joining Calgary and Halifax in the Frankfurt network. Tickets are already on sale through Discover Airlines, Lufthansa, tour operators and travel agencies.
Belize City: A European First
Belize City (BZE) joins the Discover network on 16 December 2027, with twice-weekly flights from Frankfurt on Thursdays and Sundays, running until mid-April 2028. Aviation24.be notes that the airline claims it will be the first European carrier to serve Belize.
The seasonal route will not go on sale immediately. Tickets are due to become available in mid-December 2026.
Seattle: Discover Airlines Takes Over from Lufthansa
From late March 2027, Discover will assume operation of Lufthansa's Frankfurt to Seattle (SEA) and Munich to Seattle routes, both of which are currently served up to daily. Passengers with existing bookings will have those updated automatically, with no action required on their part.
Seattle-Tacoma International is a significant hub for transatlantic and transpacific traffic. Our Seattle-Tacoma Airport Guide covers the airport's role as Alaska Airlines' home base and its growing international connections in detail.
Munich Fleet Grows Alongside the New Routes
The Munich expansion includes an additional Airbus A330-300, joining the fleet from March 2027. Aviation24.be also reports that the previously announced increase in Windhoek services to five weekly flights forms part of the same expansion programme.
The addition of another wide-body aircraft reflects the scale of the capacity increase Discover is planning for the 2027 summer season and beyond.
Seattle Is Getting Busier
Discover is not the only carrier expanding at Seattle. Airline Geeks reports that Hawaiian Airlines will add Seattle to Osaka and Seattle to Papeete, Tahiti, from May and June 2027 respectively, using Airbus A330s. Those routes are part of Alaska Air Group's stated goal of reaching at least 15 long-haul intercontinental destinations from Seattle by 2030.
The combination of Discover taking over the Lufthansa transatlantic services and Hawaiian adding Pacific routes means Seattle is becoming an increasingly busy international gateway from multiple directions.
What This Means for Passengers
Travellers on the existing Lufthansa Frankfurt and Munich to Seattle routes need to take no action. Their bookings will transfer to Discover Airlines automatically. For the new Edmonton and Belize City routes, tickets for Edmonton are already available, while Belize City bookings open in mid-December 2026.

The Bottom Line
Discover Airlines is making a clear statement about its ambitions as a leisure-focused long-haul carrier within the Lufthansa Group. Adding Edmonton as a Germany-exclusive nonstop, becoming the first European airline to serve Belize, and absorbing Lufthansa's Seattle flying all point in the same direction: a carrier that is growing methodically and filling gaps the group's full-service operations leave open. The Munich fleet expansion underlines that the growth is backed by real hardware, not just schedules.
