Air Caraïbes Extends St. Maarten Service to Year-Round in NS27
Air Caraïbes plans to operate its Paris Orly to St. Maarten route year-round in Northern summer 2027, with one weekly flight from May to October.

Air Caraïbes is once again planning to extend its Paris Orly to St. Maarten service to year-round operation, this time for the Northern summer 2027 season. According to AeroRoutes, the French Caribbean carrier has listed one weekly flight on the route between 13 May 2027 and 14 October 2027.

The move represents a renewed push for year-round connectivity between metropolitan France and Sint Maarten (SXM). It follows a year in which the carrier's plans fell short, making this latest filing one to watch rather than take for granted.
What the Schedule Shows
AeroRoutes reports that the outbound service, flight TX520, departs Paris Orly (ORY) at 12:25 and arrives at St. Maarten at 15:15. The return leg, flight TX527, departs St. Maarten at 17:45 and arrives back at Orly at 07:50 the following morning. Both flights are scheduled to operate on Thursdays, using an aircraft type listed as a 359, indicating an Airbus A350-900.
The frequency of one flight per week is a step down from the carrier's previous ambitions. Air Caraïbes had planned two weekly flights on this route during the Northern summer 2026 season, though AeroRoutes notes that those services never materialised.
Air Caraïbes and a Route With a Patchy Recent History
The failure of the 2026 schedule to operate as filed is a significant piece of context for this latest announcement. Carriers file forward schedules well in advance, and those filings do not always translate into actual services.
That pattern is not unique to Air Caraïbes. Across the industry, route announcements for leisure-focused, long-haul destinations can be sensitive to demand conditions and aircraft availability. The reduction in planned frequency from two weekly flights to one may reflect a more cautious approach for NS27.
Why St. Maarten Matters for French Caribbean Routes
St. Maarten is a dual-nationality island, with the French territory of Saint-Martin to the north and the Dutch territory of Sint Maarten to the south, sharing a single airport. For Air Caraïbes, which focuses on routes between France and the French Caribbean, the destination sits alongside services to Guadeloupe, Martinique and French Guiana as a core part of its network.
Year-round operation, if it comes to fruition, would give travellers greater flexibility beyond the traditional winter sun peak. The carrier's decision to list these flights as year-round, rather than restricting them to the peak winter season, suggests a belief that summer demand on the route can support at least a weekly frequency.
What to Watch
The critical question is whether this schedule will operate as filed, given that the equivalent 2026 programme did not. Travellers and travel agents booking around these dates will want to keep a close eye on the carrier's own communications as the season approaches.

It is also worth noting that Air Caraïbes is not the only carrier looking at seasonal expansion decisions in this period. As we reported earlier this year, Fiji Airways has been seeing growth on its Nadi to Vancouver flights, illustrating a broader trend of leisure carriers testing year-round viability on routes that were once firmly seasonal.
The Bottom Line
Air Caraïbes has filed one weekly Paris Orly to St. Maarten service for the full Northern summer 2027 season, using an Airbus A350-900. The frequency is lower than the two weekly flights the carrier had planned for 2026, a schedule that ultimately did not operate. Whether NS27 delivers on this filing will be the story worth following as May 2027 approaches.
