Air France Plans Nashville Launch in May 2027: Two New US Routes
Air France has filed schedules for new Paris to Nashville and Paris to San Diego routes, both starting in May 2027 on the Airbus A350-900.

Air France Nashville schedules have been filed for a new Paris Charles de Gaulle route, set to begin on 14 May 2027. According to AeroRoutes, the SkyTeam carrier plans to serve the route three times weekly using an Airbus A350-900.

The move forms part of a broader expansion, with Air France simultaneously filing plans for a Paris to San Diego route, also on the A350-900, starting 17 May 2027. Both announcements were filed in the global distribution system and reported by AeroRoutes on 8 October 2026.
The Air France Nashville Schedule and What to Expect
One Mile at a Time reports that flight AF38 will depart Paris at 14:10 local time, arriving in Nashville (BNA) at 16:40. The return, AF39, departs Nashville at 18:55, arriving back in Paris at 10:15 the following morning.
The route covers 4,372 miles and is blocked at 9 hours 30 minutes westbound and 8 hours 20 minutes eastbound. Services will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays in both directions. The A350-900 will be configured with business class, premium economy, and economy cabins.
The San Diego Route: From Occasional to Regular
Air France's relationship with San Diego is not new, but the nature of the service is changing. AeroRoutes notes that the airline has operated limited service to San Diego on several occasions, including November and December 2018, December 2023, June 2024, December 2024, and April 2026. The summer 2027 schedule marks the first time the carrier has committed to regular, ongoing service on the route.
Flight AF58 will depart Paris at 10:10, arriving in San Diego at 12:50 local time. AF59 returns from San Diego at 15:10, landing in Paris at 11:05 the following day. One Mile at a Time reports that the 5,698-mile sector is blocked at 11 hours 40 minutes westbound and 10 hours 55 minutes eastbound, also operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
AeroRoutes also notes that the AF58/AF59 flight numbers are currently assigned to Air France's Paris to Denver service, which is scheduled to operate until 10 October 2026.
Where the Capacity Is Coming From
One Mile at a Time observes that Air France recently cut its Denver flights, and that the Nashville and San Diego routes are likely how the airline is reallocating that capacity. Denver and the two new cities are all served by A350-900 aircraft, which makes a straightforward redeployment plausible.
This sits within a wider picture of European carriers reshaping their North American networks for summer 2027. We recently examined how Delta Air Lines is approaching its own summer 2027 Europe plan, and that caution stands in contrast to Air France's apparent appetite for new markets.
Nashville's Growing Transatlantic Profile
Nashville (BNA) has attracted a steady stream of transatlantic routes in recent years. One Mile at a Time reports that the airport currently has service from Aer Lingus and British Airways, both members of the oneworld transatlantic joint venture. Icelandair also operates seasonal service to the city.
Air France's entry means the SkyTeam transatlantic joint venture will gain its first nonstop presence at Nashville. Beyond Paris itself, the CDG hub opens connections to points across Europe, Africa, India, and the Middle East.
San Diego's Competitive Transatlantic Market
San Diego already has nonstop transatlantic service from British Airways, KLM, and Lufthansa, meaning all three major transatlantic joint ventures are present at the airport. One Mile at a Time notes that Air France's arrival will make the SkyTeam joint venture the first to have two carriers serving San Diego transatlantically.
For travellers, the A350-900 cabin product on both routes will include a full three-class configuration. Readers wanting to explore Air France's wider network can use our Airline Search tool to check routes, frequencies, and fleet details.
The Bottom Line
Air France is making a clear statement about where it sees growth in the United States market. Nashville is a fast-developing transatlantic hub, and San Diego gains its first regular Air France service after years of occasional flights.
Both routes are filed from 14 and 17 May 2027 respectively, though reservations had not yet opened at the time of filing. These are schedule filings, and airlines can and do revise plans before services go on sale, so it is worth watching for confirmation as the launch dates approach.
