China Eastern has extended its elevated service between Shanghai Pudong (PVG) and Amsterdam Airport Schiphol (AMS), pushing the frequency increase beyond its original end date. According to AeroRoutes, the airline will now maintain up to 12 weekly flights on the route through 15 January 2027 inclusive.

What Was Originally Planned
China Eastern had scheduled the jump from 7 to 12 weekly flights to run between 23 November 2026 and 30 December 2026. The extension pushes that elevated programme into the new year, covering the period when demand on long-haul routes between Europe and China is typically firm around the holiday season.
The Full Schedule
AeroRoutes reports that two daily aircraft pairings operate on the route. The Boeing 777-300ER services run every day: MU771 departs PVG at 1240 and arrives AMS at 1745, while the return MU772 departs AMS at 2000 and arrives PVG at 1400 the following day.
The Airbus A330-200 flights operate on all days except Tuesdays and Thursdays. MU229 departs PVG at 0900 and arrives AMS at 1440, with MU230 returning from AMS at 1705 and arriving PVG at 1130 the following day.
On days when both pairings operate, passengers have a choice of departure time in each direction, with the B773 and A332 departures spread across the day.

What It Means for China Eastern Passengers
The extension gives travellers planning trips around the new year a wider range of departure options on one of the key Europe to China links. The daily Boeing 777-300ER rotations are the backbone of the schedule, with the Airbus A330-200 flights providing the additional capacity that takes the total from 7 to 12 frequencies per week on the five days they operate.

The Bottom Line
The choice to extend rather than let the uplift expire at the end of December suggests China Eastern sees sufficient demand on the PVG to AMS corridor to justify the extra capacity into the third week of January. Passengers on this route now have more flexibility when booking travel over the peak winter period.
