Tickets are already on sale for a new daily nonstop route that Delta Air Lines will begin flying between Northwest Arkansas National Airport (XNA) and Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (AUS) on 7 March 2027, as reported by Airline Geeks and Aviation A2Z.

The route marks a renewed commitment to both markets. It also fits a broader pattern of rapid growth at Austin that positions the Texas capital as one of Delta's most ambitious regional projects in the coming years.
The Route Details
Airline Geeks reports that the outbound service departs Austin at 8:59 p.m., arriving at XNA at 10:49 p.m. local time. The return flight leaves Northwest Arkansas at 6:00 a.m. and lands back in Austin at 7:50 a.m. Return service from XNA to AUS begins one day later, on 8 March 2027.
The flights will be operated by SkyWest Airlines as part of the Delta Connection programme, with an Embraer 175 on the route. For a closer look at what that aircraft can do, visit our Aircraft Search.
Luis Guitart, Delta's Austin-based regional sales manager, said: "Connecting Central Texas and Northwest Arkansas with new nonstop service brings two dynamic, growing regions closer together while giving our customers even more choice and convenience."
Delta Air Lines Restores a Lost Connection
The Austin to Northwest Arkansas nonstop is not entirely new territory. TPG reported, as cited by Aviation A2Z, that Allegiant Air previously operated the route in 2021, making Delta's launch a restoration of service that lapsed after that earlier attempt.
Northwest Arkansas National Airport is already linked to five Delta hubs, namely Atlanta, Detroit, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City and New York LaGuardia, according to TPG. Austin will become a sixth point of connectivity for XNA passengers travelling across the Delta network.
Austin's Bigger Picture
The Northwest Arkansas service forms just one part of a much broader push by the carrier. According to Airline Geeks, Delta is targeting roughly 30 destinations and upwards of 70 peak-day departures from Austin by summer 2027, a figure that speaks to how firmly Austin-Bergstrom has taken hold in the airline's domestic growth plans.
For comparison, TPG noted that Delta's Austin-Bergstrom operation ran to just 28 peak-day departures back in 2019. The 2027 target therefore represents well over twice the airline's pre-pandemic footprint at the airport.
The scope of Delta's Austin growth stretches well beyond the Northwest Arkansas announcement. Airline Geeks reports that forthcoming additions to the Austin network include flights to Paris, service to San Diego, a second daily departure to San Jose and year-round routes to Cancun, confirming that the build-out is broad rather than incremental.
What It Means for Passengers
For travellers in Central Texas and Northwest Arkansas, the service offers a straightforward one-stop-free connection between two of the South's fastest-growing economies. The scheduling, with a late-evening departure from Austin and an early-morning return from XNA, suits business travellers who want to maximise time at their destination.
For Delta, the route reinforces its position at Austin at a time when the carrier is investing heavily across the network. We covered Delta's widebody commitments and its landmark Boeing 787 Dreamliner order earlier this year, illustrating how the airline is expanding at every gauge simultaneously. The Austin growth is the narrowbody and regional side of that same story.

The Bottom Line
Daily nonstop flights between Austin and Northwest Arkansas fill a gap that has existed since Allegiant's 2021 service ended. With SkyWest operating the Embraer 175 under the Delta Connection banner, passengers in both markets gain reliable, schedulable connectivity backed by Delta's wider network. With 70-plus peak-day departures planned from Austin by summer 2027, this route is best understood as one thread in what is becoming a substantially larger Delta presence at AUS.
