Delta Flight Evacuated at Ben Gurion After Bomb Threat
A Delta Air Lines Airbus A330neo was evacuated and isolated at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport on 13 October 2026 after an anonymous bomb threat.

Delta Flight 234 was evacuated and isolated at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) on Tuesday, 13 October 2026, after authorities received an anonymous bomb threat targeting the aircraft shortly after it landed from New York.

The flight operated on an Airbus A330-900neo registered N423DX. AeroTime reports that the aircraft was moved to a remote area of the airport for inspection after the threat was received, with passengers and crew escorted away from the aircraft.

What Happened to Delta Flight 234
The flight departed New York John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) on 12 October at 15:55 local time and arrived at Ben Gurion Airport shortly after 08:25 local time on 13 October, according to AeroTime.
Aviation A2Z reports that the threat claimed an explosive device was on board. Airport security personnel and other security forces responded after the aircraft landed, moved the plane to an isolated area, and conducted a detailed inspection of the aircraft and its surroundings.
Investigators searched for explosives and other suspicious items. Aviation A2Z notes that initial reports indicated the threat was a suspected hoax, though authorities had not publicly identified its source.
What the Authorities Found
The inspection found nothing of concern. An Israel Airports Authority spokesperson told The Times of Israel: "The aircraft was thoroughly inspected by Ben Gurion Airport security personnel. Operations have returned to normal."
According to Aviation A2Z, an Israel Airports Authority spokesperson also confirmed to Ynet: "The incident has ended with no unusual findings. Operations have returned to normal."
AeroTime similarly reports that airport officials concluded there were no "unusual findings" following the inspection of N423DX.
Delta Air Lines Responds
Delta Air Lines issued a statement to AeroTime confirming the sequence of events. "Nothing is more important than the safety of our customers and crews," the airline said.
"Out of an abundance of caution, Delta Flight 234 JFK-TLV was deplaned upon landing and inspected by local authorities to evaluate a potential security issue. No credible threat was found, and customers and crew were transported safely to the terminal."
The airline added: "We are grateful for the Delta team's professionalism, and we apologize to our customers for any inconvenience."
Delta's Resumed Tel Aviv Service
Aviation A2Z notes that Delta operates a daily nonstop service between JFK and Tel Aviv, having resumed the route from 6 September 2026 following a suspension of more than six months. The restored service uses the Airbus A330-900neo, and the airline said the decision to resume followed a review of regional security conditions.

The Wider Security Context at Ben Gurion
The incident comes against a backdrop of heightened aviation security concerns surrounding flights to Israel. AeroTime reports that just under two weeks earlier, on 30 September 2026, a flydubai Boeing 737 MAX 8 operating from Dubai to Tel Aviv diverted to Saudi Arabia after transmitting emergency transponder codes, including one used to indicate unlawful interference with an aircraft.
The first officer attacked the captain with an axe located in the cockpit for emergency use. Despite being stabbed, the captain managed to open the cockpit door, which allowed passengers to gain entry to the flight deck and restrain the attacker.
Aviation A2Z adds that on 4 October, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered a review of security arrangements for foreign civil aviation operating flights to Israel following concerns raised by the flydubai incident.
Aviation A2Z states there is no reported evidence linking the Delta bomb threat to the flydubai incident.
The Bottom Line
Delta Flight 234 was evacuated swiftly, inspected thoroughly, and cleared without incident. The response at Ben Gurion was methodical, and both the airline and airport authority confirm that no credible threat was found.
