Hilton Honors Plus Debit Card: 50,000-Point Bonus Returns With Elite Night Perks

Hilton has relaunched its biggest-ever sign-up offer on the Hilton Honors Plus Debit Card, including 50,000 points and up to 40 Elite Qualifying Nights.

The Hilton Honors Plus Debit Card is back with its largest sign-up offer to date: 50,000 Hilton Honors points and up to 40 Elite Qualifying Nights (EQN) for new cardholders. Head for Points reports that this is the biggest offer seen since the card launched almost two years ago.

Hilton Honors Plus Debit Card: 50,000-Point Bonus Returns With Elite Night Perks

The card carries a £150 annual fee, but Head for Points notes that the sign-up bonus alone is worth more than that fee, based on a conservative floor of 0.33p per point.

What the Sign-Up Offer Includes

The 50,000-point bonus is triggered when you hit £2,500 in foreign currency spending within six months of opening the card. At the same time, you receive 10 bonus Elite Qualifying Nights.

After that initial target, Head for Points explains, you can earn up to 30 additional Elite Qualifying Nights per calendar year, awarded in chunks of 5 nights for every £5,000 spent on the card. That brings the total potential haul to 40 Elite Qualifying Nights.

The card is issued in partnership with Currensea and offers low foreign exchange fees on spending abroad. Existing holders of the Plus card, and those upgrading from the basic card, are not eligible for the offer. Holders of other Currensea debit cards can apply, and multiple cards can be linked to the same bank account.

How the Hilton Honors Plus Debit Card Stacks Up for Elite Status

Hilton Honors Diamond status normally requires 60 nights in a calendar year. With 40 EQN potentially available from this card, a member would need only 20 further hotel nights to reach Diamond, or just 10 nights if they already hold Gold status (which comes with the card).

Head for Points highlights that the EQN earned from the card also count towards Hilton's milestone night bonuses. Members earn 10,000 bonus points at every 10-night milestone from 40 nights upwards, with an additional 30,000 points on top at 60 nights. A member with 20 nights from stays who earns the full 40 EQN from the card would receive an extra 60,000 Hilton Honors points from those milestones alone.

The nights also count towards Hilton Honors lifetime status, which requires 1,000 lifetime nights and 10 years of Diamond status. Head for Points states that Hilton has re-confirmed this directly to them after some earlier confusion.

HMRC Payments and the Self-Assessment Angle

One less obvious route to accelerating EQN is using the card for HMRC payments. Head for Points notes that HMRC payments can now be made on the card for a 0.95% fee, and those payments earn Hilton Honors points as well as counting towards both EQN and the annual renewal bonus.

As an example, paying £30,000 to HMRC via the card would cost £285 in fees, generate 45,000 Hilton Honors points, and cover the annual cap of 30 EQN from spend. With self-assessment payments due in January, Head for Points describes this as a potentially significant opportunity.

Timing Your Spend: 2026 or 2027

The 30 EQN from ongoing card spend reset on 1 January each year, so any spending between now and 31 December does not reduce what you can earn in 2027. The only timing decision, according to Head for Points, is whether to hit the £2,500 FX target before year end to receive the 10 bonus EQN in 2026, or to pace that spend into 2027 instead.

What Hilton Honors Points Are Worth

Hilton Honors does not publish a fixed award chart. One Mile at a Time reports that free night awards currently range from 10,000 to 250,000 points per night under the programme's dynamic pricing model.

The programme covers more than 9,200 hotels globally across 27 brands, from Waldorf Astoria and Conrad at the top end through to Hampton Inn and the economy-focused Spark brand. Head for Points also flags redemption options including Hilton Honors Experiences, with partnerships covering the Football Association, Wembley Stadium and Formula 1 team McLaren.

For readers who want to explore how to use the Airline Search tool to find routes served by Hilton partner hotels at key destinations, that resource is a useful starting point for planning redemptions around travel.

The Bottom Line

The 50,000-point sign-up bonus on the Hilton Honors Plus Debit Card is, on the numbers provided by Head for Points, worth more than the £150 annual fee before any additional benefits are counted. The combination of Gold status on arrival, up to 40 EQN, low FX fees and potential milestone bonuses makes this the most compelling version of the offer since the card launched.

The offer is not available to previous Plus cardholders or to those upgrading from the basic card. New applicants who can meet the £2,500 FX spend trigger within six months have the most to gain.
