Chase has launched the IHG Premier Select, formally the IHG One Rewards Premier Select Credit Card, a new $350-a-year product that sits above the existing IHG card portfolio and bundles hotel elite nights, airline statement credits and a large welcome bonus into a single product. The card is live now, and the structural detail matters for anyone weighing whether the fee pays for itself.

Why the IHG Premier Select Launch Is Significant
The IHG card market has not traditionally been a space where cardholders put serious day-to-day spending. As View from the Wing notes, the usual logic has been to take the sign-up bonus and hold the card for its benefits rather than use it as a primary spending instrument. The Premier Select changes that calculation, at least on paper, by adding benefits with direct cash value on top of the points structure.
The welcome bonus alone is substantial. You earn 200,000 IHG One Rewards points after $5,000 in purchases within three months of account opening. View from the Wing values those at half a cent each, putting the bonus at $1,000 by that measure. Valuations of loyalty points are inherently subjective, and your own redemption habits will determine whether that figure holds in practice.
What the Airline Credit Structure Actually Means
The most immediately legible benefit is the airline statement credit. The card offers $200 per calendar year through 31 December 2027, triggered by a single flight purchase of at least $250 booked directly with an airline. View from the Wing sets out the timing opportunity clearly: open the card in autumn 2026, make a qualifying purchase in 2026, make a second in 2027 before the first anniversary, and you collect $400 in credits against a first-year fee of $350. That arithmetic works, but it requires two separate purchases in two separate calendar years and neither can be left to the last moment.
For ongoing years, the benefit is $200 against a $350 fee, leaving $150 of annual fee to justify through other benefits. The published credit is confirmed only through 2027, so its continuation beyond that date is uncertain. View from the Wing acknowledges this directly, noting that whether the benefit continues after 2027 remains to be confirmed.
The Elite Night Credits and What They Stack To
The card deposits 20 elite night credits on opening and annually thereafter, with Chase allowing six to eight weeks for the initial credits and subsequent deposits due by 1 February each year. Those credits count toward both IHG elite status milestones and Milestone Rewards. At the 20-night milestone, the cardholder can select a confirmable suite upgrade covering up to five nights, including a points stay, by calling IHG between 14 days and 24 hours before arrival.
The stacking element is where the Premier Select becomes more interesting for existing IHG cardholders. View from the Wing confirmed with Chase directly that elite nights from multiple IHG cards stack. A holder of both the existing Premier and Business cards who adds the Premier Select would have 50 annual elite nights in total from January 2027 deposits, which is enough to reach the 40-night Milestone Rewards threshold and select both annual hotel lounge membership and an additional suite upgrade, without any hotel stays or spending on the cards.
That is a meaningful structural advantage for people already embedded in the IHG ecosystem. For a new IHG cardholder without existing cards, the 20 nights from the Premier Select alone reaches the first milestone tier, not the lounge membership tier.
Benefits That Require Realistic Valuation
Not every headline figure translates to straightforward cash value. The card includes up to $300 a year in IHG Food and Beverage Rewards, paid as one $75 voucher per quarter. As View from the Wing points out, each voucher expires at the end of its quarter, must be applied to eligible charges on a room folio during a participating stay, and any unused balance is forfeited at redemption. Someone who does not already expect qualifying hotel dining every quarter should not count this at face value.
The card also provides up to $50 in United TravelBank cash, split as $25 per half-year with registration required and expiry dates attached. There is a fourth-night-free benefit on consecutive points stays, automatic IHG Platinum status and smaller credits covering Global Entry, TSA PreCheck or NEXUS up to $120 every four years. A year of DoorDash DashPass and three months of Instacart Plus are included with enrolment by 31 December 2027, along with monthly $10 non-restaurant DoorDash and $10 Instacart credits through that date while the relevant membership is active.
Meanwhile, the broader IHG loyalty landscape is active. Head for Points reports that IHG One Rewards is currently running triple base points on app bookings and double base points through other qualifying channels for stays between 1 October and 31 December, with the bonus beginning on the second registered stay. A buy-points offer with up to a 100% bonus was also running through 5 November. The timing of the Premier Select launch therefore sits inside an unusually promotional period for the programme as a whole.

What Remains Uncertain
Several elements of the long-term value proposition are genuinely unknown at this stage. The $200 airline credit is confirmed only through 2027, and whether Chase and IHG extend or replace it after that date is not stated. The food and beverage vouchers carry enough conditions that their real-world value varies sharply by cardholder behaviour. The 5/24 rule applies, meaning applicants who have opened five or more credit cards across all issuers in the past 24 months will not be approved, which limits the eligible pool.
The restriction on the welcome bonus applies to current holders of this specific card and to previous holders who received the new cardmember bonus within the past 24 months, according to View from the Wing, which confirmed this directly with Chase. Holding other IHG cards does not by itself disqualify an applicant.
The Bottom Line
The IHG Premier Select is a product whose first-year case is clear: $400 in airline credits against a $350 fee, plus a 200,000-point bonus, makes the maths straightforward for someone who will make two qualifying flight purchases in 2026 and 2027. The ongoing case is more conditional and depends on how much of the benefit bundle a given cardholder can actually use. The elite night stacking benefit is the most structurally durable feature for existing IHG cardholders. For everyone else, the honest question is whether their travel patterns align with enough of the quarterly and annual benefits to justify $350 a year once the introductory period passes.
