Within the last 30 minutes, Jet2 flight LS257 from Leeds to Palma de Mallorca has declared an emergency, diverting to London Stansted.
Information is limited surrounding the incident at hand.

Jet2 Flight LS257 – Leeds to Palma de Mallorca…

Jet2 flight LS257, which declared the emergency, is a routine scheduled flight between Leeds and Palma de Mallorca.
Furthermore, the aircraft involved in the incident was G-JZBD.
As per data from Planespotters.net, G-JZBD is a 8.6 year old Boeing 737-800 that was delivered to the airline back in November 2017.
Of the 737-800 variant, Jet2 has 94 of them in their fleet, of which 92 are in active service, and two are parked, with an average fleet age of 16.4 years.
As well as the 737-800, Jet2 has the following other aircraft in their mainline fleet:
- 33 Airbus A321s.
- 2 Airbus A330s.
- 7 Boeing 737-300s.
In total, the airline has 136 aircraft in their fleet, of which 134 are in active service, and two are parked, with an average fleet age of 13.8 years.
Jet2 flight LS257, which declared the emergency, departed from Leeds at 1649 local time today and initially tracked south towards Palma de Mallorca.
Over the South Downs National Park, the aircraft made a deviation in a north-easterly direction, and then squawked 7700, the general emergency code, during the descent towards London Stansted.
After burning off enough altitude, the aircraft landed safely without further incident.
Reason for the Emergency?
As per @FlightEmergency on X, it is understood the reason for the emergency onboard Jet2 flight LS257 Leeds-Palma de Mallorca was a medical-related incident.
It is unclear what the nature of this medical emergency is, but clearly serious enough to force a diversion.
As soon as we have more information on this, then we will update you accordingly.
