According to reporting by L’essentiel, Luxembourg emergency services confirmed that the aircraft was stationary at the time of the event and was not engaged in either a take-off or landing phase.

Fire crews from the CGDIS responded to the scene at approximately 11:15 local time after the incident was reported.

The carrier stressed that no crew members, employees, or other individuals were injured during the incident.

Cargolux further stated that it is treating the matter with the utmost seriousness and has already begun implementing precautionary measures across its Boeing 747-8F fleet.

According to the airline, additional inspections have been ordered on all Boeing 747-8F aircraft operated by the company before their next flight.

The move highlights the importance of ensuring the continued safety and airworthiness of the Luxembourg-based fleet while investigators determine the cause of the occurrence.

Information published by the Aviation Safety Network also records the event as a ground incident involving the Luxembourg-registered freighter.

Recovery Operations and Investigation Underway

Cargolux stated that recovery operations are being carried out in coordination with the relevant authorities in Luxembourg.

At the same time, an investigation has been launched to establish the circumstances that led to the landing gear collapse.

At this stage, no preliminary findings have been released, and investigators will likely examine both the landing gear assembly and the conditions surrounding the aircraft’s parking position.

The focus of the inquiry will be on identifying the root cause and determining whether any additional safety recommendations are required.

The incident temporarily drew attention to operations at Luxembourg Airport, one of Europe’s most important cargo hubs and the home base of Cargolux.

About the Aircraft Involved

The aircraft involved was Boeing 747-8F LX-VCF, serial number 35811.

According to data published by Planespotters.net, the freighter was delivered to Cargolux in September 2012 and remains an active member of the airline’s fleet.

LX-VCF is part of the carrier’s Boeing 747-8F fleet, which forms the backbone of Luxembourg’s global cargo operations.

The aircraft has served the airline for more than a decade, operating freight services across Europe, Asia, the Americas, and the Middle East.

While the investigation continues, the Luxembourg aviation community will be watching closely for further updates regarding both the cause of the landing gear collapse and any findings that may emerge from the ongoing inquiry.
