PIA 777 Islamabad-Manchester Declares Emergency

In the last few moments, a PIA Boeing 777 operating a flight from Islamabad has declared an emergency around 30 minutes away from Manchester.
AP-BGY is the aircraft involved in the incident.
Below is what we know on the incident so far…
PIA Flight PK701 – Islamabad to Manchester…

PIA flight PK701, which declared the emergency, is a routine scheduled flight between Islamabad and Manchester.
Furthermore, the aircraft involved in the incident is AP-BGY.
As per data from Planespotters.net, AP-BGY is a 21.5 year old Boeing 777-240LR that started out life as a Testbed with Boeing back in February 2005.
In February 2006, the aircraft was then handed over to PIA, where it has been since.
Of the 777-200 variant, the carrier has eight of them in the fleet, of which four are in active service, and four are parked, with an average fleet age of 18.8 years.
As well as the 777-200, they have 3 ATR aircraft, 17 Airbus A320s & 4 Boeing 777-300ERs, bringing the grand total to 32 aircraft, with an average fleet age of 18.8 years.
Of the 32, 16 are in active service.
PIA flight PK701, which declared the emergency, departed from Islamabad at 1230 local time on September 16 and tracked west towards Manchester.
Everything was normal in the flight until around 30 minutes from arrival.
The aircraft squawked the emergency code, 7700, and started to descend towards it’s destination.
At the time of publication, the aircraft is still in the air.
Reason for the Emergency?
As it stands, the reason for the emergency onboard PIA flight PK701 Islamabad-Manchester is unknown.
The aircraft is still in the air, so more developments are yet to come.
