In the last 30 minutes, Ryanair flight FR4017 from Porto to Milan declared an emergency and diverted to Toulouse.

In the last 30 minutes, Ryanair flight FR4017 from Porto to Milan declared an emergency and diverted to Toulouse.

Ryanair flight FR4017, which declared the emergency in Toulouse, is a routine scheduled flight between Porto and Milan.

Furthermore, 9H-QEP is the aircraft involved in the incident.

As per data from Planespotters.net, 9H-QEP is a 8.0 year old Boeing 737-800 that was delivered to Ryanair back in April 2018 as EI-GJP.

The aircraft was transferred over to the Malta Air subsidiary back in February 2020, where it has been since.

Of the standard Boeing 737-800 variant, Malta Air has 136 of them in their fleet, of which all of them are in active service, and the average age being 10.5 years for that variation of jet.

There are also 43 Boeing 737 MAX 8s in that Maltese subsidiary as well, with an average fleet age of 4.1 years.

In total, Malta Air has 179 aircraft in their fleet, all of which are in active service, and host an average age of 8.9 years.

Ryanair flight FR4017, which made the emergency landing in Toulouse, departed Porto at 1348 UTC, bound for Milan originally.

Everything seemed normal in the first hour of the flight, before the aircraft made a rapid descent and squawked 7700 whilst heading into the diversion field of Toulouse.

Not too long after, the aircraft landed safely without further incident.

Reason for the Emergency in Toulouse Unclear…

At this time, it is unclear what the reason for the emergency in Toulouse is for onboard Ryanair FR4017 Porto-Milan.

What we do know is that the incident is serious enough to force a diversion.

As soon as we have more information pertinent to this, then we will update you accordingly.

For now, this remains a developing story.

UPDATE #1 – It has been revealed the cause as severe turbulence injuring someone onboard the flight.
