EVA Air is set to strengthen its North American presence with the launch of a new nonstop service between Taipei and Washington, D.C., beginning 26 June 2026.
The move marks a significant expansion for the Taiwanese carrier, which continues to build momentum across the U.S. market and reinforce its position as the leading operator linking Taiwan with North America.
According to the airline, the new route will operate four times weekly and increase EVA Air’s total North American frequencies to 98 per week, the most of any Taiwan‑based carrier.
Strengthening a Key Strategic Market With New Washington Flights…
EVA Air has long viewed North America as central to its international growth strategy, and the addition of Washington, D.C. underscores that commitment.
President Clay Sun described the U.S. as a market of “long‑term strategic importance,” noting that the new service follows the successful launch of the airline’s Dallas–Fort Worth route last year.
That expansion made EVA Air the only Asian airline serving two destinations in Texas, a milestone the carrier is now building upon with its entry into the U.S. capital.
Sun emphasised that Washington, D.C. represents one of the most influential and economically significant regions in the United States.
As home to federal institutions, multinational corporations, NGOs, and international organisations, the region offers strong premium‑travel demand—an area where EVA Air has been steadily enhancing its product offering.
“The addition of the Washington, D.C. route strengthens our North American network, while providing passengers with more flexible, efficient, and comfortable travel options,” Sun said in the announcement .
A Premium‑Focused Operation From Taipei…
The new route will be operated by the Boeing 787‑9, configured in three cabins: Royal Laurel Class, Economy Class, and EVA Air’s latest fourth‑generation Premium Economy.
The airline highlights this new Premium Economy product as a major differentiator, offering what it describes as the industry’s largest seat pitch and a design philosophy that elevates the cabin from “upgraded economy” to a “business‑class‑like” experience.
The introduction of this cabin on the Washington route aligns with the carrier’s broader strategy to strengthen its three‑class offering across long‑haul markets.
Flight BR04 will depart Taipei at 19:30 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, arriving at Washington Dulles at 22:30 the same day.
The return service, BR03, departs Dulles at 01:50 on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays, arriving in Taipei at 05:45 the following day.
Taipei to Washington: A High‑Value Market With Global Connectivity

Washington, D.C. ranks as the seventh‑largest metropolitan area in the United States and sits within the broader National Capital Region—one of the country’s three largest population centres.
The region’s concentration of high‑net‑worth individuals, global enterprises, and academic institutions makes it a compelling market for long‑haul carriers seeking both premium and leisure demand.
The city’s cultural and historical attractions, including the Smithsonian museums, further enhance its appeal for travellers from Asia.
Chryssa Westerlund, executive vice president and chief revenue officer of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, welcomed EVA Air’s arrival at Washington Dulles, noting that the new service will “significantly reduce existing travel times between Taipei and Washington, D.C.”
She added that the route is expected to generate more than $61 million in annual economic impact for the region, reinforcing Dulles’ role as the primary international gateway to the U.S. capital.
Expanding North American and Asian Connectivity
With the addition of Washington, D.C., EVA Air’s North American network will span ten gateways: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, New York, Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, Chicago, Vancouver, Toronto, and now Washington.
The airline’s Star Alliance membership and partnerships with carriers including Air Canada, United Airlines, Avianca, and Copa Airlines extend its reach to more than 200 destinations across the Americas.
Additional cooperation with Alaska Airlines, JetBlue, Hawaiian Airlines, Sun Country Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and WestJet further broadens its connectivity options for travellers.
For passengers originating in North America, EVA Air’s Taipei hub offers seamless onward connections to major Asian cities.
The airline continues to position itself as a premium trans‑Pacific option, leveraging its reputation for five‑star service and operational reliability.
In conjunction with the new service, EVA Air has introduced a “9‑Day Eastern U.S. Highlights” group tour product, developed with leading travel agencies in Taiwan.
The itinerary links Washington, D.C. with Baltimore, Philadelphia, the Amish countryside, Atlantic City, and New York City.
Designed exclusively for the Taiwanese market, the programme aims to offer one of the most efficient and curated East Coast travel experiences available, capitalising on EVA Air’s dual gateways of Washington and New York.
A Strategic Step in EVA Air’s Trans‑Pacific Ambitions
The launch of the Taipei–Washington, D.C. route represents more than a network expansion—it signals EVA Air’s intent to deepen its presence in high‑value U.S. markets while elevating its long‑haul product offering.
With strong demand indicators, enhanced connectivity, and a premium‑focused cabin strategy, the airline is positioning itself to capture a larger share of trans‑Pacific traffic in the years ahead.
