It is understood that after the landing from Lufthansa flight LH1753 Athens-Munich, the aircraft taxied to the apron and then evacuation slides were deployed due to a strong odour in the aft of the cabin.

From there, passengers began to evacuate via slides, with three passengers reported to have had minor injuries as a result.

Following the incident earlier today, D-AIEA remains grounded whilst work begins to identify the problem and implement a fix.

If the engine was on fire, it is unclear what the extent of the damage is and whether the engine needs to be replaced.
