In the last 15 minutes or so, Norwegian flight D84257 from Stockholm has declared an emergency during it’s descent into Bilbao.
Information is limited surrounding the cause of the incident.

Norwegian Flight D84257 – Stockholm to Bilbao…

Norwegian flight D84257, which declared the emergency, is a routine scheduled flight between Stockholm and Bilbao.
Furthermore, the aircraft involved in the incident was SE-RRS.
As per data from Planespotters.net, SE-RRS is a 15.1 year old Boeing 737-800 that has been with the Norwegian Group since May 2011, originally as LN-DYQ.
The aircraft was handed over to it’s Swedish AOC back in November 2019, where it has been since.
Of the 737-800 variant, Norwegian Air Sweden has 24 of them in their registry, of which all but one are in active service, with an average fleet age of 12.0 years.
As well as the 737-800, the Swedish AOC also has 30 Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft as well.
Norwegian flight D84257, which declared the emergency, departed Stockholm at 1256 local time earlier today and headed southbound towards Bilbao.
Everything was normal throughout the flight, until it came to the descent phase of the flight.
The crew onboard declared a general emergency via the 7700 squawk code, to indicate a problem onboard.
From there, the crew continued their descent into the Spanish airport, acquiring priority access for a landing.
The aircraft landed safely without further incident at just after 1600 local time and did revert back to a normal code during the final approach phase.
Reason for the Emergency?
At this time, the reason for the emergency onboard Norwegian flight D84257 Stockholm-Bilbao is currently unclear.
What we do know is that the emergency is serious enough to force a mayday and subsequent squawk change.
As soon as we have more information pertinent to the cause, we will update you accordingly.
