We could very well be entering new year, new airline in 2026 through the planned operational launch of BlueLight.

As we will explore in this story, this carrier is quite fascinating, and will look to make a considerable difference to the world.

With funding and a triple-phased plan in place, all they need to do now is get into the skies.

Let’s explore this interesting carrier further.

Who Is BlueLight?

On the BlueLight website, they explain themselves pretty clearly who they are what they want to do:

“BlueLight is the Beacon of Hope in a world where humanitarian crises demand fast, reliable, and mission-driven air support.”

“We are an airline focused on reaching the unreachable — not for profit, but for people.”

Lead by co-founders Pierre Bernheim and Waleed Rawat, they have the mission on providing unparalleled air transport for humanitarian efforts around the globe.

They have also openly stated the problems that are being faced when it comes to relief work too:

  • Inefficiency.
  • Underserved regions.
  • Inaccessibility.
  • Overspending.

Their aim is to be super efficient, with a 24/7 global service on standby, with deployment within 72 hours.

Furthermore, they are going to aim for a global reach so then they can get to anywhere in the world quickly.

Through their stable pricing also, their services will be offered for 30% less than the usual market rate with no fluctuations, and most importantly, they will be operating as a non-profit.

The carrier, which hasn’t operated a flight yet, has already established relationships with Liege Airport in Belgium, Geneva Airport in Switzerland, Joramco, Airbus & Amros Global as well.

Also, there are at least 14 people currently working on the operation too, with significant experience in their respective fields across Aviation, Medical, Philanthropy and consultancy on strategy as well.

When they formally opened up their offices back in October, co-founder Rawat said this on the launch:

“BlueLight represents a humanitarian infrastructure for the 21st century — agile, neutral, and built for transparency.”

“Our purpose is not scale for its own sake, but service at its most essential. We are aligning the discipline of commercial aviation with the compassion of humanitarian work.”

Bernheim also said the following:

“We built BlueLight because too many communities still wait too long.”

“When lives depend on speed, reliability, and neutrality, the world cannot afford delays caused by bureaucracy, politics, or profit.”

“BlueLight exists to ensure that help arrives — wherever and whenever it is needed.”

The Triple-Phased Plan…

BlueLight will be taking things via a three-phase plan, which will be to ensure global coverage for humanitarian support.

Via the $55m in funding already secured, they will get three Airbus A340-300 aircraft and three Airbus A321P2F (Passenger-to-Freighter) aircraft.

The three phases are as follows for this:

  • Phase 1:
    • Europe, Middle-East and Africa Base.
    • 1x A340-300 & 1x A321P2F to be based here.
  • Phase 2:
    • North & South America base.
    • 1x A340-300 & 1x A321P2F to be based here.
  • Phase 3:
    • Asia-Pacific base.
    • 1x A340-300 & 1x A321P2F to be based here.

It is understood that these phases will take place from 2026, and will be completed by 2035.

This, of course, is dependent on the company securing as much funding and donations as possible over the next nine years to ensure this works smoothly.

For the Airbus A340-300 aircraft specifically, BlueLight aims to provide high-payload capacity and combi flexibility as well.

This would make it ideal for passenger transportation, medical evacuations and critical aid to crisis zones worldwide.

And, as is in the name with the A321P2F, this will be utilised for high frequency short-haul cargo operations.

Whilst it has been noted they are gunning for a 2026 operational launch, there hasn’t been additional detail as of yet in terms of which airframes they have acquired.

That, will no doubt, be the next stepping stone for them to get over the line if they wish to launch things on time.

Sustainability will also be at the forefront of this plan, with the airline planning to utilise Sustainable Aviation Fuel, or SAF, for their operations.

Outside of their three-phased plan, they are also partnered with OBERION Group, who are developing a unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to deliver critical aid to remote and underserved regions.

It is understood this UAV will have a 500kg cargo payload and six hours of fuel endurance.

This UAV will also be able to fit through the cargo doors of the A340-300s too, which offers already a solution to the potential logistical problem that could have come up with this.

An Interesting & Well-Backed Venture…

Overall, this is a very interesting, but also well-backed venture that BlueLight Humanitarian Airlines are opting for.

In a surge of demand for humanitarian services globally, the idea of trying to provide this on a global scale, whilst being sustainable, is something that will be a useful asset to NGOs globally.

It is clear also that they are uniquely placed to collaborate with global partners and amplify that impact where it’s needed most.

All eyes will now turn to 2026, where they will now seek to acquire the 3x Airbus A340-300s and 3x A321P2Fs, and gradually provide some much needed humanitarian coverage.

To get their triple-phase plan done in nine years seems quite realistic, and it will be interesting to see whether they get this done shorter, so then they can focus on additional growth where it may be needed in the future.

But for now, all eyes will turn to the first humanitarian operation that it performs.
