EGYPTAIR Receives First Airbus A350-900

EGYPTAIR has officially taken delivery of its first Airbus A350‑900, the opening aircraft in a 16‑strong order that will reshape the airline’s long‑haul capabilities.

The handover, completed in Toulouse on 9 February 2026, positions EGYPTAIR as the first operator of the A350 in North Africa—an important regional milestone and a clear signal of the carrier’s intent to modernise and compete more aggressively on intercontinental routes.

For EGYPTAIR, the A350‑900 is more than a fleet renewal exercise.

It is a platform for network expansion, enabling new non‑stop services from Cairo to long‑range markets such as the US West Coast and North Asia.

These are high‑yield, strategically important destinations where range, efficiency and passenger experience directly influence competitiveness.

Elevating the Passenger Experience

The aircraft arrives with a two‑class layout designed to bring EGYPTAIR’s onboard product closer to global standards.

The cabin features 30 Business Class suites, each offering direct aisle access—a configuration that has become the benchmark for long‑haul premium travel.

In Economy, 310 seats complete the layout, supported by Airbus’s latest‑generation Airspace cabin.

Airspace has become a key differentiator for Airbus widebodies, and its inclusion on EGYPTAIR’s A350s introduces improved ergonomics, quieter interiors and enhanced lighting systems.

For crews, the cabin environment is engineered to reduce fatigue on ultra‑long‑haul missions, supporting operational reliability as the airline stretches its network further than before.

Efficiency and Sustainability at the Core For EGYPTAIR’s Airbus A350s…

The A350‑900 is widely regarded as the most modern widebody in commercial service, and its performance profile is central to EGYPTAIR’s long‑term strategy.

With a range of up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 km), the aircraft opens new route opportunities while delivering a 25% reduction in fuel burn, operating costs and CO₂ emissions compared to previous‑generation competitors.

This efficiency is driven by a combination of advanced aerodynamics, extensive use of lightweight composite materials and Rolls‑Royce Trent XWB engines—currently among the most efficient large turbofans in operation.

Sustainability also plays a growing role in fleet decisions across the Middle East and Africa. Like all Airbus aircraft, the A350 is certified to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).

Airbus continues to target 100% SAF capability across its product line by 2030, aligning with global decarbonisation goals and giving airlines like EGYPTAIR a pathway to reduce lifecycle emissions as SAF availability increases.

A Strong Market Endorsement For The Airbus A350-900…

The A350 programme continues to demonstrate strong global momentum.

By the end of January 2026, Airbus had secured more than 1,500 orders from 67 customers—a testament to the aircraft’s long‑term relevance as airlines rebuild networks, retire older widebodies and prioritise sustainability.

For EGYPTAIR, the arrival of its first A350‑900 marks the beginning of a transformative chapter.

As additional aircraft join the fleet, the airline will be better positioned to compete on long‑haul markets, enhance passenger experience and strengthen Cairo’s role as a connecting hub between Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
