The Channel Islands-based airport has unveiled the plans that the Dutch carrier has, which will bolster connectivity out of the region.

Those living on the island will get access to more than 160 worldwide destinations as a result of these plans.

Scheduling for the new KLM Amsterdam-Jersey flights is as follows:

KL1098AMSJER12:5515:20

Flights will begin on April 4, 2026, initially operating on a once-weekly basis on Saturdays.

Then, between July 4 and August 30, flights will operate on a daily basis, with it then reverting back to once weekly on August 31 all of the way to October 24, when the service is expected to be terminated, thus operating seasonally.

Jerome Salemi, the General Manager of Air France-KLM had this to say on the new Amsterdam-Jersey flights:

“We are absolutely thrilled to introduce this new service between Jersey and Amsterdam.”

“Thanks to our hub at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, the flights provide local residents convenient access to destinations across the world. We look forward to working with Jersey Airport on making this route a success.”

Adding to this was Matt Thomas, the CEO of Ports of Jersey:

“Welcoming KLM to Jersey is an exciting moment for our Island’s connectivity. This route is far more than a direct link to Amsterdam - it opens Jersey to KLM’s global network, meaning Islanders can reach major international destinations with one simple connection.”

“It will also mean strengthened tourism links, enabling new markets to discover Jersey.”

“Improved connectivity supports our economy, boosts tourism, and gives Islanders greater choice.”

“We’re proud to see this long-term ambition becoming a reality and look forward to working closely with KLM as the service launches in April.”

A Great Boost for the Island Following Turmoil…

This is a significant boost for Jersey Airport following a period of turmoil within the Channel Islands aviation sector.

Not too long ago, Blue Islands, a significant provider to the area, went into bankruptcy, following volatile financials.

Competitor Loganair did however step in to provide the essential air services that the Channel Islands needs, but it did throw a lot of question marks in the air.

After a tumultuous six week period, the new flights between Amsterdam and Jersey with KLM will be welcome news for the Island.

Handling anywhere between 1.3m-1.5m passengers per year, it is a very popular airport for both tourists and businesses, which the Dutch carrier will no doubt want to take advantage of.

And this economic growth is something of focus for the island, as explained by the Minister for Sustainable Economic Development, Deputy Kirsten Morel:

“This new route to Amsterdam strengthens Jersey’s links with the rest of the world, creating fresh opportunities for our businesses, supporting growth in our visitor economy, and providing more choice for islanders travelling internationally.”

“We’re delighted to welcome KLM to Jersey and look forward to the positive impact this partnership will bring to our community and our economy.”

“I hope Islanders and visitors alike will use this service, so it remains a key connection for Jersey for many years to come.”

It is a partnership that will benefit both sides of the equation, unlocking significant opportunities moving forward.

Furthermore, if the flights perform well over the seasonal basis, there could be additional scope for the Dutch carrier to go year-round.

That can very much be told with the way that they are going to operate the flights in the first season.

They want to test out what demand looks like on this route, and whether it is viable on a daily basis.

Or, we could very well be reading into it and operate the flights at the busiest peak for the airport.

Looking Ahead…

In summary, the launch of KLM’s direct service between Jersey and Amsterdam marks a transformative moment in the island’s aviation history.

More than simply re-establishing a point-to-point link with the Dutch capital, the new route plugs Jersey directly into one of Europe’s busiest and most globally connected hubs at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol — a gateway to more than 160 destinations worldwide.

For residents, this means easier access to long-haul travel, business centres and cultural hotspots without the need for complex or time-consuming connections.

For visitors, especially from markets that were previously hard to reach, the convenience of seamless travel via Schiphol could spark renewed interest in Jersey’s tourism offerings.

Local officials emphasise that this isn’t merely a seasonal link, but a strategic enhancement of the island’s connectivity footprint, expected to benefit the economy, increase choice for travellers and strengthen global ties.

The phased schedule — starting with weekly flights in spring, scaling to daily services over the summer, then returning to a weekly rhythm in autumn — reflects a thoughtful approach to demand and seasonality that could help ensure long-term sustainability.

While the success of this route will depend on passenger uptake and ongoing collaboration between the airport, local government and KLM, its introduction signals optimism and ambition.

In an increasingly competitive air travel landscape, Jersey has taken a significant step forward, reinforcing its position on the map and unlocking greater opportunities for connection, commerce and cultural exchange.

Ultimately, this new service is not just a flight path — it’s a bridge to the world.
