Within the last hour, a United Airlines Boeing 767 operating a flight between Munich and New York has declared an emergency.

Information is limited surrounding the incident at hand.

Within the last hour, a United Airlines Boeing 767 operating a flight between Munich and New York has declared an emergency.

United Airlines flight UA3907, which declared the emergency, is a ferry flight between Munich and New York, with four crew onboard.

Furthermore, the aircraft involved in the incident was N657UA.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N657UA is a 33.0 year old Boeing 767-300 that was delivered to the airline back in March 1993.

Of the 767-300 variant, United Airlines has 37 of them in their fleet.

Within the 37, 35 are in active service, and two are parked, with an average fleet age of 30.0 years.

As well as the 767-300 variant, United Airlines has the following other aircraft in their mainline fleet:

  • 81 Airbus A319s.
  • 65 Airbus A320s.
  • 62 Airbus A321s.
  • 585 Boeing 737 Family aircraft.
  • 61 Boeing 757s.
  • 16 Boeing 767-400s.
  • 96 Boeing 777s.
  • 81 Boeing 787s.

In total, United Airlines has 1084 aircraft in their mainline fleet, of which 1004 are in active service and 80 are parked, with an average fleet age of 15.4 years.

United Airlines flight UA3907, which declared the emergency, departed Munich at 1245 local time on February 15, nearly three hours late, bound for New York.

Everything was normal in the flight until the aircraft was about to start it’s Atlantic Crossing.

An emergency was declared via the 7700 squawk code, and a decision to u-turn was made, with the crew choosing London Heathrow as the diversion field.

At the time of writing, the aircraft is currently over Northern Ireland, and will continue it’s diversion to Heathrow.

Reason for the Emergency Unclear…

At this stage, the reason for the emergency onboard the United Airlines Boeing 767 operating the Munich-New York flight is unclear.

This incident is still ongoing as at the time of publication, the aircraft is still continuing it’s emergency diversion to London Heathrow.

As soon as we have more information pertinent to the incident at hand, then we will update you accordingly.

Cause of the Emergency Confirmed For New York-bound Flight…


UPDATE #1 @ 1529 UK time – United Airlines flight UA3907 will now divert to Dublin Airport instead of London Heathrow.

Looks like Heathrow can’t take the diversion.

UPDATE #2 @ 1531 UK time – @FlightEmergency on X reports that the cause of the emergency is due to a generator failure onboard.

UPDATE #3 @ 1545 UK time – UA3907 has started it’s descent into Dublin – emergency landing expected within the next 30 minutes.

UPDATE #4 @ 1604 UK time – United Airlines flight UA3907 is now on short final into Dublin Airport for it’s emergency landing.

EMERGENCY UPDATE #5 @ 1609 UK time – TOUCHDOWN!

UA3907 has appeared to have touched down safely into Dublin Airport following it’s emergency broadcast due to a generator failure.
