Delta flight DL2725, which was met by emergency services in Fresno, is a routine scheduled flight between San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Furthermore, the aircraft involved in the incident was N389DA.

As per data from Planespotters.net, N389DA is a 26.3 year old Boeing 737-800 that was delivered to the airline back in April 2000.

Of the 737-800 variant, Delta Air Lines has 77 of them in their fleet.

Moreover, of the 77, all of them are in active service, with an average fleet age of 24.9 years.

As well as the 737-800, the carrier has the following other aircraft in their mainline fleet:

  • 57 Airbus A319s.
  • 43 Airbus A320s.
  • 226 Airbus A321s.

Delta Air Lines flight DL2725, which was met by emergency services in Fresno, departed San Francisco at 1459 local time yesterday (July 6), bound for Los Angeles.

Near the Coalinga area, the crew made a deviation in a north-easterly position.

Following that deviation, a descent was made towards Fresno.

Not too long after the descent initiation, the aircraft landed safely without further incident.

Why Did Emergency Services Meet The Plane in Fresno?


As per The Aviation Herald, it is understood the reason why Delta flight DL2725 San Francisco-Los Angeles diverted to Fresno was due to an engine problem.

It is understood that after landing, the aircraft stopped on the runway and was met by emergency crews.

Furthermore, it is understood this was to inspect the airplane for signs of an engine fire.

No fire was found and the aircraft was allowed to taxi to the apron.

The FAA did comment on this incident saying:

“Delta Air Lines Flight 2725 landed safely at Fresno Yosemite International Airport in California around 3:30 p.m. local time on Monday, July 6, after the crew reported an engine issue.”

“The Boeing 737-800 departed from San Francisco International Airport and was traveling to Los Angeles International Airport.”

“The FAA will investigate.”

Data from Flightradar24 highlights that the aircraft has remained grounded at Fresno following the incident.
